My Wife Paula and I are involved in the Cape Cod Baseball League. We host players during the summer, she runs the 50/50 raffle and I help out in the broadcast booth/PA/music. Our children are also involved as interns doing everything from Batgirls to TV cameraman.
We have two girls in College and two older boys who live in Seattle and Detroit.
I now work for Devaney Energy full time, but maintain the ability to service my former Gas and Pool Equipment customers. It is nice to not have the worries of an entire operation everyday.
I don't have staff to answer phones or a storefront anymore, but I have been able to maintain my relationships working nights and weekends. The best way

Over the years I have been involved in many things. I included some old photos.

WBZ Radio Box Office Winners
Congratulations on your recent win. We are proud to be involved with one of New England’s greatest institutions, WBZ Radio 1030. We hope you can attend our Open House on May 3 & 4. Your taste buds will be craving some of our specialty spices and sauces. I will be manning the grills and I promise to please with some creative cooking. We have some unique items for your outdoor room and would love to meet you.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey L Tufts
President and Chief Bottle Washer
Robert Tufts worked for a local propane company in 1958. He was the clerk of this family business. When Mr. Ienella died, his wife relied heavily on him to run the business. Eventually the company was purchased by the local gas utility but they kept Bob on to organize their propane operations. The company was sold again and repurchased in the early seventies by what is now Bay State Gas. As a little boy, Jeff Tufts worked with his father after supper sorting the route tickets for the next day’s deliveries. He also worked on vacations and summers imputing information into the new state of the art computer system in 1978, and 1979. He always remembers the gas grill displays and listening to his father sell propane and propane appliances out of his Brockton MA office.
When Jeff started college in 1984 he was looking for a way to earn money that would fit into his college schedule. His brother Stephen owned a prime piece of property near the recently built Shaws supermarket in Easton MA. The idea was to fill gas grill cylinders and sell replacement grill parts from this location. Red tape prevailed, since the property was half in and half out of the business zone the Town of Easton appeals board ruled another business in the neighborhood would be detrimental. That put things on hold until Jeff with spite in his heart decided to “fix” them. He decided on Thanksgiving day 1985 to go around the Town’s edict and bring the business to the customers. Grillman Patio Grill Service was born.
The company started small at $7.25 per tank refill the company grossed $6800. that first year. Jeff continued to work other part time jobs while the company grew. Delivering apples from his grandfather’s farm in Mendon MA,. working at Johnnie’s cider mill in Easton MA., cleaning cars for sale at Gallo Chrysler in Brockton MA, driving a Taxi at night and working as assistant manager of the 400 restaurant in Easton MA.
The company suffered growing pains and jumped around to a few locations before finally settling in on Rt 138 in Easton January 16 1991. By this time the company was incorporated as J Tufts Enterprises Ltd with a DBA of Grillman Propane.
I'm going to dig out some old material and scan it in. This Section Is kind of like the Grillman Museum .
I had my first Website in 1994 well before dial-up had saturated the market.
I have some pictures of the Pyrotechnic we setup with the Rolling Stones. (they had three different stages based on size and they practiced assembling them and tear down repeatedly at CMGI Field )
I was flown to an Island on a sea plane to install a fireplace.
I wish I had the tapes of the Friday morning grilling tips I did on WBET in Brockton, I don't know if anyone heard them.
I also did a grilling talk show and the only caller was my Mother, I didn't want to tell the Host Marion Wrobble that I knew the caller.
I donated the grills to Eddie Andelman's HOT DOG safari one year, some how I got my truck parked in the right spot to be the backdrop for TV.
I read my own radio ads for WBZ news radio $10000. a week back in 2004. Howie Carr read them on WRKO.
MUCH MORE to Come.
